Chips are it: new low-power chips that will make WiMax — “wireless access measured in square miles” — happen. Video and everything else, in your hand. US is slow on this, of course.

Example: “Eye-Fi” device autmoatically beams photos from camera to PC or online service by wireles.

Low-power devices may supplant Bluetooth and Zigbee

Smart gadgets, sending, receiving, responding to information: e-mail your house, tell it to turn on the lights, start the microwave, etc.
